 RTÉ News is today reporting that contract negotiations for the provision of new speed cameras will begin "shortly". According to RTÉ News, the Department of Justice said today's Cabinet meeting had confirmed the Government will be proceeding with the safety camera network which will be operated by a private operator. According to an article in the Irish Times, the Government's new speed camera programme has been shelved due to growing costs. The programme was due to roll out 300 fixed and 300 mobile speed cameras in the coming year. The programme had already suffered serious delays during the tender process. READ MORE ... |
